Mark Benard - Founder & Managing Director
Prior to forming Tribe and Lost Boys, Mark freelanced in Vancouver creating effects for TV Series and commercials, including MGM's Poltergeist: The Legacy and The Royal Bank. His first project out of film school was co-directing and producing effects for Atlantic Records music video client "Mollies Revenge".
Mark's obsessive dedication and instinctive talent drove him to a quality level unique in Vancouver's effects industry. Grasping the opportunities before him, Mark formed Tribe Productions, which became a successful independent 3D Animation and Effects house. During the first year, Mark's skill and ambition led him to projects such as MGM's feature Warriors of Virtue and TV series The Outer Limits. Within a few months, Mark tripled the company's resources. He was then approached by various LA companies, and in spring of 1997 formed a 50/50 partnership with Virgin Digital Studios. In the summer of 2000 Mark purchased Virgins 50% ownership of Lost Boys becoming the majority shareholder.
As Creative Director and Effects Supervisor, Mark has worked with clients in LA, Mexico and Norway, usually flying at a moment's notice. He assembles a hand-picked team of Lost Boys artists for each project and oversees the creative production of the studio.
