“Lost Boys is a school that really gets students industry ready. Through Mark Bénard's experience,  I learned everything that I needed to confidently enter my career.”—Poshin Wang, Environment Artist/Matte Painter

Why did you decide to attend Lost Boys?

I was teaching Fine Art in high school before I attended Lost Boys. Not long in my teaching life I found my passion for film and want to be an artist. In my research of finding a way to be an artist to work on film, I found that Visual Effects was something I could do and enjoy doing it. I also found some schools that teach VFX and Lost Boys is one of them. I looked through those schools' students gallery and was blown away by the quality.  With Mark Bénard's experience, I believe he knows what the industry want and what I have to learn to get a job in VFX industry. That's why I decide to attend Lost Boys.

How was the project-based learning experience?

I like all the projects designed by Mark Bénard. I learned so much from every project. Through working on the those projects, I not only get an overall knowledge and skill but also help me found out what I want to focus on.

What was the best part of your Lost Boys experience?

Learning with joy. I learned so much and had so much fun everyday. We were learning together, helping each other, working hard. But we also had BBQ, camping, night out for movies, visiting studios in Vancouver. Lost Boys made the learning process become so much fun and enjoyable that I was looking forward to going to the studio everyday.

Did you have any surprising experiences?

Trampoline in the back yard :)

What did you like to do outside of the classroom?

Camp fire on the beach, watch a movie, hiking, painting and drawing, playing with kids and cats, gardening, reading.

What would you say to prospective students considering Lost Boys?

My supervisor after my first week of working once said I been taught very well after he knew I was just freshly graduated. Mark Bénard really prepared me very well for this industry.

What was your most memorable moment from your year attending Lost Boys?

It was after I finish making my demo reel and everybody liked it. I can't believe I knew nothing about VFX or 3D stuff at all one year ago. I accomplished and learned so much in one year.

Did you learn anything new about yourself?

Yes. I found out with my fine art background I can be a matte painter. I didn't even know what a matte painter was before attending Lost Boys.

Can you share any opportunities that have resulted from your Lost Boys experience?

I got job offer from a VFX company in Vancouver not long after I graduated which would have been impossible for me if I had never attended Lost Boys.
